Digital Ocean have been swamping my timeline with promoted tweets advertising their $5 a month droplets, wee virtualised servers. A five bucks a month it's cheaper than my current hosting by a couple of quid and gives me full access to the "server" to play with and screw up as I wish. I'd been using Octopress as a static site generate hosting on GitHub pages, but this was a bit of a pain to serve, and is very Ruby, which I know but don't quite "get", unlike Python - which I think I do get. Happy with the set up for now - just a simple notes site. Really easy to set up too (if you have Linux chops), and I'm most comfortable with shell access than anything else. God I hate web hosting company's control panels.
